A post-apocalyptic, dystopian, sci-fi set in a distant future where nature has been defeated and nothing remains except fields of dead black sand.
Siege & Desist – Black Sandz (Book Two)
One of the last great strongholds of humankind—a city built on unity and equal survival—is about to fall. Firestone Bay stands not just for herself, but for every surrounding settlement, offering aid and protection wherever it can. Built atop the bones of an old-world military harbour, the city’s heart is a fusion of timeworn granite structures and towering patchwork citadels made from scavenged steel and scrap. Ultraviolet lights burn atop its walls, keeping the nightmares at bay, while rope bridges and gangways connect its tiers like veins in a living creature.
Unease has already taken root in the city. Whispers of sabotage have turned to alarm, and before the people can brace for impact, Firestone Bay is plunged into chaos. As monstrous armies swarm the outer walls and darkness descends, something more sinister waits patiently in the shadows—biding its time to strike at the city's heart.
Firestone Bay has long stood against the horrors of the Wasteland, its Guardians and Rangers versed in holding the line. But now, they face a threat they never expected—one born not of the dark, but of betrayal, cunning, and ruthless ambition.
This time, the danger is organised. Ruthless. Human.

WOW.
I cannot recommend enough that you read this, whoever and wherever you are. It is truly and literally a masterpiece of literature and originality, pure creative mastery from incredible mind of the author, Spyke O'Hanlin.

Dark gritty and wonderful. I have not read a book so rich in lore and been hooked from the start. The author of this book doesn't use his words lightly, every world is used well to set the tone of the world which he has created and it is done in a way that doesn't feel forced. I found my self invested in character right from the beginning

I found my self invested in character right from the beginning of the book as the author was able to create a bond with the characters with just a few line. Some of my favourite authors like Tolkien, Andrew Sapkowski, Clive Barker and CS Lewis have all created amazing world for me to escape into but this is the first time I have read a book and found myself in that world with everything I needed to know but hungry to learn more so quickly.

So hard not to discuss the book without spoiling segments but you'll definitely find layer upon layer of creativity between the story as it builds towards it's crescendo.
The author places you in each terrifying location with such dizziness of pace, you can almost smell the creatures bearing down upon you and breathing down your neck.
Can't wait for the next one!
